ESN and More Nutrition dominate the sports nutrition and supplements market in D2C like no other. Both brands are part of ‘The Quality Group’. While the brands’ focus differs, they are united by their strengths: a clearly defined target audience, a strong community and a dominant online presence. Enhancing the brick-and-mortar retail presence was simply the logical next step.
A category debut at remarkable speed where the numbers tell the story:
| Customer | The Quality Group |
| Brands | ESN & More Nutrition |
| Category | Food & Supplements |
| Services | Consulting, Design, Engineering, Testing, Production |
Product density vs. brand message
In retail, product density is what counts - the brand has to hold its own on shelf. Sports nutrition is an evolving category in grocery retail and space for graphics and education is limited.
The trade-off between products and branding matters:
Too many products → less brand communication
Too much brand communication → less products
One system for every space requirement
Not every location offers six meters of space. The solution has to work in three expansion levels - while still following one consistent logic.
One system, two shelving standards
REWE and EDEKA differ when it comes to shelving, because their standard shelf systems have different heights, depths and anchoring.
1,000+ stores across REWE and EDEKA in twelve weeks - rolled out nationwide, across different shelving standards, with no loss of quality from pilot to rollout.
Workshop: Strategy before fixtures
Before the first design was created, ARNO and TQG sat down at the same table with three questions in mind: Who buys D2C, who buys in grocery stores and where is the overlap? The result is a modular system with three expansion levels - designed to fit every location.
Production: 1 modular kit, 3 variants
Core: Shelf unit or gondola end with header and side fins. Simple, fast and cost-effective.
Premium: Keder graphics, light feature and a higher-grade material finish - for high-performing locations.
Signature: Over 6 meters wide, fully illuminated, including a fridge and a screen with AI-powered product recommendations.
All three levels share the same core structure and components.
Rollout: 1,000 stores from one partner
ARNO manages logistics to the central distribution warehouse and directly into each store, provides an installation hotline for store teams and ensures on-site quality control in the pilot locations. No interface ping-pong - ensuring an on-time rollout.
